In November 1981, I arrived as a young man in Benalmadena Pueblo for the first time. A friend and I wanted to establish a bar on the Coast, but for the following year and half, we stayed in the Pueblo, before opening the bar in Torremolinos.

Since then, I have found myself returning to this beautiful village again and again. Later, my life took me in many other directions – banking, finance, technology, sports and leisure industries.

I always found time to come back every now and again to relax on the Costa del Sol, enjoying the sun and the easy life for a few days.

In recent years, I have moved more into restaurants and hospitality. I own the two Michelin star restaurant, Alchemist, and the three Michelin star Geranium, both in Copenhagen. Geranium was in 2022 voted the “Best Restaurant in The World” by the Worlds50BestRestaurants panel

When I learned that there was an opportunity to acquire Hotel La Fonda, I could not resist. It is great to be more engaged and to give something back to the Pueblo that has given me so many relaxing and charming experiences over more than forty years.

Designed by the famous Spanish architect, Cesar Manrique, it was always a very beautiful boutique hotel, and we have now embarked on a journey to make Hotel La Fonda everything it can be. New beds and furniture, Spanish art and decorations and lots of trees and plants!

As you can see from this, I have a great passion for restaurants, and our Escorpio is a restaurant with great potential. I will not repeat the gourmet fine Michelin dining here, but I love high quality Spanish food and wines, for which there a plenty of great meat, fish and vegetables available locally. A very good Spanish dining experience at affordable prices.

So this little hotel in the beautiful village has become a passion for me, too. I look forward to continuing to develop and refine it in the coming years.

I hope you will come to Benalmadena Pueblo and share my passion for Hotel La Fonda.

We will welcome you warmly and do our very best for you to enjoy this sunny and relaxing oasis as well.

See you soon, I hope!

All the best,
Lars Seier Christensen
